Karnataka: Depressed final year MBBS student allegedly commits suicide
Bagalkot: In an unfortunate incident, a final-year MBBS student attached to S Nijalingappa Medical College and H S K Hospital had allegedly committed suicide by hanging herself from the ceiling fan of her rented apartment on Saturday night.
The deceased has been identified as a 24-year-old medical student, who was a resident of Kolar District.
As per the family members of the deceased, the medico had been undergoing treatment for anxiety and depression for the last couple of years.
Navanagar Police has registered a case regarding the tragic incident and is investigating the case from all possible angles. Cops have found no death note in the house. However, the friends and staff of the medical college have been interrogated by the Police.
As per the latest media report by the New Indian Express, the incident came to light when one of the friends of the late medico tried to reach out to her over the phone. Getting no answer from her, the friends arrived at the house of the deceased to check on her. Unfortunately, upon arrival, they found the medico to be hanging from the ceiling fan.
Sources informed the daily that "The medico used to reside alone at a rented house. Her parents were settled in Bengaluru. They (parents) used to visit her once in a month."
Denying the involvement of unseen hands in the incident, the Police have further informed NIE, "The family members claimed that she was undergoing treatment for anxiety and depression from the past four years. She has reportedly killed herself because of her poor mental health condition."
