Karnataka: Man accused of threatening doctor, disrupting clinic services

Doctor assault
Chitradurga: A dispute at a clinic in Karnataka’s Hosadurga town has led to the registration of a case after a man allegedly threatened a doctor, clinic staff and disrupted patient consultations. The complaint also alleges that defamatory material about the incident was shared on social media.
The incident reportedly took place on October 15 at a clinic opposite SJM College. According to a complaint filed by a clinic assistant, the man entered the premises while the doctor was present, allegedly pushed the assistant and forced his way into the doctor’s room.
The complaint prompted Hosadurga police to register a case under relevant provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS).
The doctor stated that he had been away from regular duty for two days for personal reasons. He alleged that the man arrived while he was at the clinic for personal work and demanded that he produce a leave letter.
According to the doctor, the man continued to insist that he produce a leave letter and misbehaved with him. The doctor also alleged that the confrontation escalated into misbehaviour and a disturbance at the clinic, TOI reported.
The complaint further refers to allegedly defamatory content circulated on social media following the incident.
Hosadurga police are investigating the matter. The allegations, including those relating to threats, interference with clinic operations and social media posts, are yet to be established through the investigation.
Police are also expected to examine the circumstances of the confrontation and record statements from those present at the clinic when the incident occurred.
