KEM Hospital Forensic Medicine Head booked for Sexual Harassment

FIR
Mumbai: The Mumbai police on Sunday registered a case against the head of the forensic medicine department at the Bombay Municipal Corporation (BMC)-run KEM Hospital for allegedly molesting his colleague's wife, a fellow doctor, and their two minor daughters.
According to a UNI report, the local Bhoiwada police station registered an offence on Sunday under sections 74 (criminal force against a woman with the intent to outrage her modesty), 352 (intentional insult with the intent to provoke a breach of peace), and 351(2)(criminal intimidation) of Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and Section 8 of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (Pocso) Act.

As per the FIR, the accused allegedly abused and threatened the complainant doctor’s husband. He also allegedly molested their two daughters, aged 15 and nine years.
As per a media report in the Free Press Journal, notably, the complainant's husband had been suspended a month ago following sexual harassment allegations by six women doctors. These complaints had been submitted to the now-accused HOD and the hospital's dean.
So far, no arrest has been made, but an investigation into the matter is going on.
Medical Dialogues had earlier reported that the Bombay High Court recently denied granting anticipatory bail to a senior doctor at Mumbai's civic-run KEM Hospital, who was accused of molesting six junior women doctors. While rejecting the pre-arrest bail plea, the HC bench comprising Justice Rajesh Patil underscored the need to consider the "emotional and psychological trauma" inflicted on the medicos.
Six women doctors had accused the senior doctor at the BMC-run KEM Hospital in Parel of sexual harassment. Consequently, the doctor had been booked under Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) sections 74 (acts of unwelcome physical contact, advances, or sexually coloured remarks), 75 (use of criminal force with intent to outrage modesty), and 79 (protection from actions intended to insult modesty).
