Kerala Anaesthesiologist found dead under mysterious circumstances in Amayizhanjan canal
Thiruvananthapuram: In an unfortunate incident, a senior anaesthesiologist of the Thiruvananthapuram General Hospital was found dead under mysterious circumstances in the Amayizhanjan canal on Saturday.
A senior doctor of the General Hospital here was found dead in the Amayizhanjan canal in the city on Saturday, police said.
The deceased has been identified as a 55-year-old resident of Krishna, Sun Temple Square, Muttada who was heading the Department of Anaesthesia at the General Hospital and was found dead after his car was abandoned near the canal at Kannammoola.
Police said the locals saw the car with the door open and later found the body in the canal.

"It looks like a suicide. We also found some syringes and medicines used for anesthesia," police said.
Police said upon preliminary investigation it was found that the doctor had shown symptoms of depression for the past few weeks.
He is survived by his doctor wife and son.
As per a media report in TOI, “The cause of his death will be known only after postmortem which will be held on Sunday. We are under the assumption that it is a case of suicide. But it can be ascertained only after a detailed probe,” said the police.
The doctor's colleagues at the General Hospital think that chances are high that the deceased self-administered anaesthesia medicine and jumped into the water in a bid to end life. However, this can be verified only after police receive the chemical analysis report.
