Lucknow Doctor brutally assaulted for Rs 13 lakh extortion
Lucknow: A doctor was reported to have been assaulted by a group of men in Indira Nagar over extortion. The accused allegedly used casteist remarks and demanded Rs 13 lakh as an extortion amount from the doctor during the assault.
The Times of India reports that the doctor has been identified as Dr. Bishwjeet Biswas who runs his clinic in Amrai village in the area. The incident took place on May 30 at night time when the doctor was closing the clinic.

The accused, identified by the doctor as Prabhakar Singh, Deepak Singh, Shakti Singh, Nitesh Singh and Kailash Pal who are residents of Amarai village in the area allegedly stormed the clinic. The doctor told TOI, "They all started beating me without any provocation and demanded Rs 13 lakh as extortion. The accused abused me saying I belonged to the Pasi community and had shifted to Lucknow from Bengal."
The doctor added, "I lost my reputation in the locality despite being in the noble profession of a doctor who treats all without any favor. I was saved as my sympathizers reached the scene. But I am feeling insecure as they may attack me again."
The ADCP of North Zone, Prachi Singh said that the police have already registered a case.
The Medical Dialogues team had earlier reported a similar incident where a doctor was allegedly assaulted by a local businessman who is also a BJP leader on the street over a parking dispute. According to the complaint filed by victim Heena Gupta and her mother, Heena, who works in a private hospital, was allegedly thrashed by Biswajit Swain over a parking issue near the Laxmisagar area.
When the police reached the spot, they asked the victim to file a complaint, and they did so at the Laxmisagar police station.
