Ludhiana Doctor booked for Rs 25 lakh extortion bid
Doctor bookedLudhiana: A former doctor who had worked at a private neuro centre on Mall Road has been booked for extortion after allegedly demanding Rs 25 lakh from the hospital owner and her daughter, threatening to shut down the hospital and harm them.
According to the news reports, the FIR was registered at Division Number 8 police station based on a complaint filed by the hospital management. The accused, identified as Bhargav, a resident of Hoshiarpur, previously worked at the neuro centre but had resigned around two months ago and is currently on the run, and raids are being conducted to arrest him.

According to the complaint filed by hospital owner Dr Neelam Arora, as reported by Hindustan Times, the doctor's behaviour during his tenure was found to be unethical and irresponsible. She stated that he was not diligent towards his duties and was warned on repeated occasions. Despite that, he did not improve and eventually resigned.
Dr Arora alleged that after leaving the centre, the former doctor began filing repeated complaints against the hospital with different authorities, including fire safety, police and health departments. However, inspections were carried out each time, and the hospital was given a clean chit by the officials.
The complaint further stated that Bhargav later started demanding Rs 25 lakh from Dr Neelam Arora and her daughter, Dr Niharika Arora, in exchange for stopping the complaints. He also allegedly threatened to get the hospital closed and also issued threats to their lives if the money was not paid.
Due to continuous threats, the doctors and hospital staff remained under constant fear, forcing the family to approach the police commissioner for immediate action.
Following this, police registered an FIR under Sections 308(2) and 351(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). Further investigation is currently underway.
