Maha: Doctor cheated of Rs 1.2 lakh under pretext of job in UK
Mumbai: A 36-year-old woman doctor, who runs a clinic in Bandra (West) was cheated of Rs 1.2 lakh by a gang under pretext of a job placement in the United Kingdom.
As per a recent media report in LatestLY, the medical practitioner holds a BHM as well as MD degree and treats children at her clinic in Bandra (West)
The doctor in her complaint filed with the Bandra police on December 22 said that she is on a WhatsApp group of doctors where they share information regarding their profession.
Last year, she saw a message on a WhatsApp group where an exclusive paramedic institute and recruiting organization in India was offering jobs to doctors in the United Kingdom. The institute has a website, email, and a Facebook page, she added.

The doctor called the institute to inquire about the selection process. She was then asked to share her education details and other documents for verification through the mail, which she did as instructed. After clearing a few tests and training processes, she was supposed to be eligible for working in the United Kingdom (UK), and was asked to pay Rs 1.2 lakhs in three installments.
After the payment was done, an appointment letter was mailed to her to take her into confidence. Thereafter, she was asked to pay another two lakhs for registration. She then realized that she was being cheated and asked the institute to return the money she had paid. But there was no reply from the institute.
Subsequently, she made a written complaint at Bandra police, and an FIR was registered, reports Latestly.
