Man posing as patient brutally attacks woman doctor inside her clinic, probe launched
Thane: A woman doctor was allegedly brutally assaulted at her private clinic in Thane with a sharp weapon by an unidentified person posing as a patient, who soon fled with the doctor's mobile phone, gold jewellery and Rs 5,000 cash, police said on Monday.
The 53-year-old doctor was injured in the incident that took place in Bhayander area on Sunday. The incident has been reported from Dr Gayatri Jaiswal's clinic located on the Amrutvani Satsang road in Bhayandar (west).

The assailant apparently posed as a patient and was waiting outside as Dr Jaiswal was treating others. Immediately after all other patient's left, the accused allegedly barged into the clinic and attacked the doctor with with a blood pressure monitoring machine. He then snatched her mobile phone, gold jewellery and cash, all collectively worth around Rs 93,000, and ran away, an official from Bhayander police station told PTI.
The doctor suffered a severe head injury, he said, adding that some people in the neighbourhood rushed to the clinic on hearing the commotion and took her to a nearby private hospital.
As per a recent media report in The Free Press Journal, the doctor received 30 stitches on her head and is recuperating at a private hospital where her condition is said to be stable.
Based on the victim's complaint, the police registered a case against the unidentified person under relevant provisions, he said.
The police were checking the CCTV footage of the area to trace the culprit, the official said. Bhayandar police have launched a manhunt to apprehend the assailant.
