MGM Medical College: Deputy Superintendent, HOD Gynaecology served show cause notice for poor housekeeping, sanitation at hospital

Indore: The Mahatma Gandhi Memorial Medical College (MGM Medical College) administration has served a show-cause notice to the Deputy Superintendent, HOD gynaecology of Maharaja Tukojirao Holkar Hospital for the poor conditions of housekeeping, sanitation, and patients facilities in the hospital.

The move came after the recent inspection conducted at the MTH hospital by district collector Ilayaraja T who complained about the poor condition of the hospital and directed the medical college administration to take action against the matter.

The medical administration has sought a response from both doctors, namely Dr Nilesh Dalal, HOD Gynaecology and Dr Anupama Dave, Deputy Superintendent MTH in seven days about the poor conditions of housekeeping, sanitation, and patients facilities in the hospital.

Two days ago, collector Illayaraja T paid a surprise visit to MTH hospital pretending to be an attendant. He was shocked to witness the hospital running in a poor condition with a lack of cleanliness and poor patient care at the hospital. In addition, there was also an issue regarding the housekeeping and security of the hospital.

Expressing displeasure over the current situation of the hospital, Illayaraja T directed the authorities to take action against the agency responsible for the housekeeping and security in the hospital and the officers for neglecting the situation in the first place.

Speaking about the matter, Dean Dr Sanjay Dixit told Free Press Journal, "During the inspection, collector Illayaraja T had noted various anomalies over which we served the show cause notice to both the officials. Earlier, we had served notices to an assistant professor (medicine) Dr Ankit Meshram and to a lab technician who was absent from the hospital. Appropriate action would be taken over the same."

Before issuing a show cause notice to the doctors, the medical college administration also charged a fine of Rs 25,000 and Rs 15,000 on the agency after the inspection was done.

Meanwhile, the administration has also decided to set up a blood bank facility in the hospital for patients in dire need and a meeting was conducted in this regard with HoDs of gynaecology, microbiology, anaesthesia, pathology, transfusion medicine, and other departments on Monday.
