MP: 451 Medical officers promoted to post of specialists in state
Bhopal: The state health department has recently promoted 451 medical officers to specialist status. It took nearly four years to promote the medical officers in a bulk.
An order regarding the promotion was issued by the state government. Earlier only selective few medical officers were given the position of specialist and others would get contractual basis. This year the position has been given as a permanent spot for the 451 medical officers.
There have been promotions for doctors at the Civil Hospital Bairagarh, the Community Health Centre Gandhinagar, Berasia, and Kolar, and a few doctors have been transferred to district hospitals. The majority of doctors have been retained after the promotion.

In addition, the government has assured that a direct recruitment process for the post will begin within a week and the notice regarding this will be released soon. New medical officers will be recruited soon for the post.
The Free Press Journal reports that the decision to promote the medical officers was made after the the Madhya Pradesh Medical Officers' Association advocated a long time to promote postgraduate medical officers posted in government hospitals of the state and make them specialists.
For the past few months, patients were suffering due to lack of specialist doctors at the government hospitals and CHC's. After the recruitement of 451 doctors, it is expected that the problem will be solved in Bhopal.
