Mumbai doctor allegedly duped of Rs 3.85 crore on pretext of property transfer, accused arrested
Mumbai: In another case of fraud, a doctor has been allegedly duped of Rs 3.85 crore on the pretext of transferring a property located at Chembur in the doctor's name. A 52-year-old builder has been arrested by the crime branch of Mumbai police.
The Times of India reports that the accused was produced before the 37th Metropolitan Magistrate's court which remanded him in police custody till July 3. The accused was identified as Deepak Lohana of Sai Builders and the complainant was identified as Kailash Kothari.
According to the complainant, the doctor was introduced to Sai Builders' partners through a property agent. The partners had reportedly claimed to have acquired the development rights of a plot and produced documents to substantiate their claim. However, the police stated that the documents that the accused showed were fake.
The complainant said that the partners did not honour the agreement that they had made way back in 2007, adding that the partners demanded an additional Rs 2 crore in April this year, reports the TOI.
Appearing for the complainant, advocate Amit Dubey and Vagish Mishra urged the court to grant the accused police custody since a big fraud has been played and various documents were forged by the accused.
The Medical Dialogues team had earlier reported a similar incident of fraud where the kingpin of a gang has been arrested by the Crime Branch for allegedly cheating medical aspirants of lakhs of rupees by promising them admission to government medical colleges. The complaint was filed by a government school teacher — Inder Kumar Roy (53) — a resident of Delhi at the crime branch police station on May 30, who alleged that he was cheated of Rs 20 lakh by a fraudster who promised admission of his son at a government medical college.
