Mumbai Doctor suspended for Allegedly Molesting a Patient

Mumbai: A woman accused a private hospital doctor of allegedly sexually harassing and molesting her in the hospital. The incident took place on Friday.

The incident came into focus when a person who was at the hospital OPD at that time heard the woman screaming in anger leaving a doctor's room and said "What kind of hospital is this,…where doctors are touching a girl improperly in a room?". The person who overheard the woman took to social media and shared the incident.

The woman received no backup from personnel who observed the incident, according to the social media user, and she left without filing a complaint.

Following this, in a letter written to the hospital dean and Santacruz police station, the Aam Aadmi Party demanded immediate action against the doctor.

According to TOI, hearing this matter, the doctor has been placed under suspension till a further probe is conducted by the suburban hospital which also directed an enquiry into the matter.

However, the hospital declared that they have taken action against the doctor and said "An alleged case of inappropriate behaviour by one of the doctors has been brought to our attention. Pending the conclusion of the enquiry the doctor concerned has been suspended," but the woman has not lodged any complaint regarding this matter.

Medical Dialogues team earlier published a similar report where an Associate Professor attached to the Hassan Institute of Medical Sciences (HIMS) was suspended after a junior doctor accused him of sexual harassment in Karnataka's Hassan district.

The Associate Professor in the Department of General Medicine, allegedly misbehaved with a house surgeon while on duty on January 12 in the presence of other students and later kissed her forcefully in the lift.
