Nagpur: Doctor, wife allegedly cheat man of Rs 1.34 crore, booked
Nagpur: A Nagpur-based doctor and his wife along with four of their accomplices were booked for allegedly cheating a man and his partners to the tune of Rs1.34 crore on the pretext of a business deal.
The complainant, Praful Bahatude alleged that the doctor took advance payment to provide the clinical equipment but ultimately cheated him and his partners. The doctor and the other accused have been booked under the relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code at Pachpaoli police station based on his complaint.
Police said that the complainant had entered into a business deal with a doctor and his partners and in 2018 as they wanted to initiate a collaboration on some clinical products and allied services. According to the term of their deal, the complainant had also deposited around Rs1.18 crore with the doctor's firm, reports Times of India.
The complainant claimed that he was supplied only some of the many equipment which he was supposed to get as per the deal. He alleged that he placed an order for many more equipment and was disappointed to see what he received. According to the daily, dissatisfied, he then approached the doctor's firm demanding the deposits and investments. However, the doctor and their associates allegedly never returned the amount, police stated.
After this, the complainant approached the police and registered a case of fraud against the doctor.
A few weeks ago, a Noida-based doctor was also booked under various sections including 304 (punishment for culpable homicide not amounting to murder) of IPC was arrested from Lahori Gate for allegedly cheating a family of Rs 8 lakh on the pretext of performing a kidney transplant.
