Neurosurgeon dies after car hits divider, catches fire on Suryapet-Khammam highway
Hyderabad: In a tragic incident, a 50-year-old neurosurgeon was charred to death after the car he was driving hit a roadside divider and caught fire on National Highway 365 in Suryapet district of Telangana on Sunday, police said.
The accident occurred around 7.15 am near Pillalamarri flyover on the Hyderabad-Khammam highway, a police official said.
According to the PTI report, the car was engulfed in flames after hitting the road divider. On receiving information, a police team and fire personnel reached the spot and extinguished the flames, but the vehicle was completely gutted.

“Later, a charred body was found on the driver’s seat. Based on information from a nearby toll gate and the vehicle’s temporary registration number, the deceased was identified as a neurosurgeon working at a hospital in Khammam district,” the official said.
According to Khammam Rural CI G Rajashekar, police suspect that lack of sleep may have caused him to lose control of the car and hit the divider, TOI reported.
The vehicle was engulfed in flames within minutes, leaving the doctor trapped inside. Police reached the spot after being informed about the accident and initiated an investigation.
The doctor was driving from Khammam to Hyderabad to meet his family, police said.
A case was registered, and the body has been shifted to Suryapet Government General Hospital for post-mortem examination.

The impact was so severe that an iron railing pierced through the vehicle, trapping both occupants inside. The woman doctor's condition is reported to be critical. The accident occurred on Sunday while the couple was travelling from Mumbai towards Gujarat.
