Odisha: Food delivery boy arrested for allegedly raping woman doctor
Angul: A 38-year-old woman doctor posted in Chhendipada Community Health Centre (CHC) was allegedly raped by a man who visited the doctor's official quarter on the CHC campus to deliver food on Monday night.
The accused has been identifed as Sukanta Behera, the 35-year-old son of the dhaba owner. An FIR was registered against him, following which he was arrested and forwarded to court.
As per various media accounts, the doctor was living alone in her quarters. Hindustan Times reports that the victim's brother was having a meal at a local Dhaba in Angul district on Monday evening. He ordered food for his sister and asked to deliver it at her place. Accordingly, the hotel owner's son visited the residence of the doctor to deliver her food.
At around 11 p.m. the accused reached her residence and when she opened the door, he barged in. He allegedly forced himself on her and raped her, reports The New Indian Express. "Finding her alone, the accused sexually assaulted the woman doctor and then threatened her with dire consequences if she reported the matter," said Angul SP Jagmohan Meena.
Later, the doctor approached police and lodged a complaint of sexual assault against the accused. Angul SP Jagmohan Meena confirmed that they have arrested the accused and an investigation is going on.
According to a daily, the victim has been taken to the district headquarters hospital for her medical examination.
