On-duty doctors attacked by 7 persons including TMC leader at Murshidabad Medical College hospital
Murshidabad: Indicted for hooliganism against on-duty doctors, seven persons including Trinamool Congress (TMC) leader has been arrested for allegedly thrashing doctors, hospital staff, and a security guard at the Murshidabad Medical College and Hospital.
The heated altercation resulted in severe injuries for the doctors and staff, with a junior doctor suffering a fractured nose and a security guard breaking his arm.
After their arrests, the accused were presented in the Berhampur court on Friday. The court has sent all the accused to judicial custody for seven days.

Violence broke out at the hospital on Thursday night when a group of hooligans brought a patient with respiratory issues for admission and allegedly created a ruckus at the hospital which led to a heated altercation between the gang and the on-duty junior doctors. It has been alleged that while admitting the patient to the Hospital, several junior doctors on duty were beaten up, India Today reports.
According to hospital sources, some Trinamool workers, including Biplab Kundu, district secretary of the organizing district committee, reached Murshidabad Medical College at around 1 am on Thursday. These people had come to the hospital to admit a patient suffering from a breathing problem.
Soon after there was a heated argument between junior doctors and TMC leader Biplab Kundu and other Trinamool supporters over admitting the patient. During the altercation, Trinamool supporters allegedly thrashed a junior doctor in the hospital and broke his nose.
When other junior doctors came to rescue the doctor, they were also beaten up by the hooligans. In an attempt to save the doctors, a security guard of the hospital who tried to intervene also got injured and is currently under treatment for his broken arm.
Later, the hospital administration took action against the goons by filing a complaint at the local police station following which the police registered an FIR and the police launched an investigation based on the complaint, leading to the arrest of all seven accused individuals involved in the assault within 24 hours.
Medical Dialogues team had earlier reported a similar incident where an FIR was filed against Trinamool Congress (TMC) MLA Madan Mitra for allegedly threatening people in Kolkata's SSKM hospital. The hospital accused Mitra of threatening the staff, including on-duty doctors, and condemned the incident.
However, Madan Mitra alleged that allegations levelled by Kolkata's SSKM Hospital in an FIR against him are baseless.
