Osmania Hospital Junior Doctors Call Off Strike Temporarily After Talks

Hyderabad: Following assurances from health authorities to address their concerns, the Telangana Junior Doctors Association (TJUDA) unit of Osmania General Hospital (OGH) temporarily suspended its strike on Tuesday, giving the administration ten days to implement visible improvements.
The junior doctors had launched the protest over critical infrastructure deficiencies, acute shortages of essential medical supplies, diagnostic constraints and inadequate equipment at Osmania Medical College and Osmania General Hospital.

According to the association, these shortcomings were affecting patient care as well as the academic training of undergraduate medical students and postgraduate residents.
Medical Dialogues had previously reported that, demanding the restoration of non-functional medical equipment and urgent improvements in hospital infrastructure, junior doctors staged a protest at Osmania General Hospital (OGH) in Hyderabad on 12 October, 2026, alleging that the deficiencies were affecting patient care and clinical training. The Telangana Junior Doctors Association of Osmania Medical College (OMC JUDA) announced that interns, undergraduate medical students, postgraduate residents, senior residents and representatives from all departments would participate in the protest.
Following discussions with health authorities, the administration assured the protesting doctors that visible improvements would be implemented on the ground within ten days.
In response, the TJUDA unit at OGH decided to give the authorities the stipulated period to fulfil their assurances. However, the junior doctors clarified that the decision to suspend the strike was temporary and should not be interpreted as a withdrawal of their core demands.
The TJUDA members clarified that they will keep a close tab on the ground-level implementation over the next ten days. “Our objective is to strengthen public healthcare delivery and safeguard the academic environment for future physicians,” they said, reports Telangana Today.
The future course of action will depend on the implementation of the assurances given by health authorities and the extent to which the concerns regarding infrastructure, medical supplies, diagnostic facilities and equipment are addressed.
