Padma Bhushan Dr Anil Kohli honoured with Lifetime Achievement award at IMA doctors' day celebration

Dr Anil Kohli Honoured with IMA Lifetime Achievement Award
New Delhi: Eminent dental surgeon, Padma Bhushan Dr Anil Kohli, was conferred the Lifetime Achievement Award at the Doctor's Day Celebration and Awards 2026 organised by the South Delhi Branch of the Indian Medical Association (IMA).
The award was presented by Smt Bansuri Swaraj at Jawaharlal Auditorium, All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), New Delhi, on July 5, 2026, in recognition of his longstanding contributions to oral healthcare, dental education, research and public service.
Dr Kohli is the first dentist in India to receive both the Padma Shri and the Padma Bhushan. Over the course of his career, he has played a significant role in shaping dental education and clinical practice. In addition to serving as President of the Dental Council of India, he has also held the position of Honorary Dental Surgeon to several Presidents and Prime Ministers of India.
Accepting the award, Dr Kohli expressed gratitude to the IMA South Delhi Branch and dedicated the recognition to his teachers, mentors, students, colleagues, patients and family. He said the honour serves as a reminder of the continuing responsibility of healthcare professionals towards society.

Dr Kohli also reaffirmed his commitment to promoting oral health as an integral component of overall healthcare and emphasised the importance of mentoring and guiding the next generation of healthcare professionals. He said he would continue supporting initiatives aimed at strengthening oral health awareness and professional development within the healthcare community.
The ceremony brought together senior members of the medical and academic fraternity, along with representatives of the Indian Medical Association, to recognise Dr Kohli's decades-long contributions to clinical care, dental education, research and public service. The event also highlighted his longstanding association with the dental profession and his role in strengthening dental education, improving professional standards and advancing clinical practice in India.
