Police Custody of Medical Officer arrested in TMC ventilator scam extended till April 13
The doctor had demanded 10 per cent of the total tender value of Rs 1.50 crore, that is Rs 15 lakh, for favouring the complainant for the supply of 30 ventilators to the TMC.
Thane: A special Anti-Corruption court here on Sunday extended till April 13 the police custody of former Medical officer of the Thane Municipal Corporation who was arrested in the bribery case.
The doctor was presented in the court of Judge Shailendra Tambe by the ACB team on expiry of his remand, an ACB official release stated here.
The ACB team sought further extension of the custody of the accused, which was granted by the court.
It may be recalled that the ACB caught red-handed the doctor with a part of the bribe money of Rs 5 lakh on Thursday.
He had demanded 10 per cent of the total tender value of Rs 1.50 crore, that is Rs 15 lakh, for favouring the complainant for supply of 30 ventilators to the TMC.
In a related development, following his arrest, the doctor has been dismissed from the service by the TMC administration.
In an order issued on Friday, additional commissioner Sanjay Hervade stated that the doctor has been removed from office with immediate effect and gave an additional charge of MOH to Dr Vaijayanti S Degvekar.
