Punjab: 6 Medical Officers, 4 paramedics found absent from duty at Community Health Centre
Tarn Taran: Six medical officers and four paramedical employees received a strict warning for remaining absent from duty after the Deputy Commissioner of Tarn Taran, Rishipal Singh conducted a surprise inspection at the Community Health Centre and the OOAT, Khemkaran.
The inspection found six medical officers and four paramedical employees to be absent from duty, following which the Deputy Commissioner (DC) issued a stern warning.
According to the DC, the absent medical officers were found to be Ridham (dental), Karanveer Singh, Deepak Madohar, Rajinder Kumar, Robanjit Singh and R Kaur. The others who were absent have been identified as Palwinder Kaur, Jugraj Singh, Kulwinder Singh and Varinderpal Singh, pharmacists at the OOAT clinic. The DC ordered the health department to take strict departmental action against the absentees.
According to some district officials, the eight posts of medical officers sanctioned by the health department for the Khemkaran Community Health Centre had not been filled yet. However, as per a media report in the Tribune, six medical officers were deputed from other health centres of the district to visit the community health centre one by one through some kind of temporary arrangement made by the civil surgeon's office. Thus, only one medical officer visits the CHC every day. Two vacant posts of Dental Medical Officers have been filled.
Rishipal Singh recently assumed charge as the Deputy Commissioner of Tarn Taran in November this year, and interestingly, Tarn Taran is also the birthplace of the commissioner.
Medical Dialogues team had earlier reported about a surprise inspection conducted by the Mohali civil surgeon Dr Adarshpal Kaur at the Urban Primary Health Centre in Punjab's Sante Majra village. She inspected the records, the availability of essential medicines at the centre and checked the medical equipments available there.
