Rajasthan doctor booked for allegedly sedating, raping patient in Mohali hotel
Mohali: A Rajasthan-based private doctor was recently booked based on a complaint of a patient, who alleged that the medical practitioner called her to a hotel offering to examine the medical reports of her injury, however, he allegedly sedated and raped her.
On confrontation, he purportedly threatened the patient with serious consequences and offered Rs 10000 to keep quiet about the alleged incident.
As per various media accounts, the Sri Ganganagar, Rajasthan based doctor has been booked under sections 376 (rape) and 506 (criminal intimidation) of the IPC.
The patient has been identified as a 21-year-old woman, who suffered a back injury around 15 days ago when she went to visit her relatives in Ganganagar. She alleged in her complaint that her relatives took her to the private hospital in Ganganagar for treatment of the injury and the doctor treated her. The doctor allegedly took her number at that time.

The Indian Express reports that the woman in her complaint mentioned that the doctor on March 25th called her and informed her that he was staying in a Mohali-based hotel due to some personal work. He allegedly suggested that the woman should come to the hotel with her medical reports so that the doctor can inspect her injury.
"The doctor was staying in a hotel room in Sector 82. He had taken my phone number when I had visited him in Ganganagar. He asked me to visit the hotel where he was staying and also asked me to bring my medical reports for him to check," the woman said in the complaint.
When she entered the room, the doctor allegedly gave her a tablet which she consumed, and thereafter, she became unconscious. Taking advantage of her condition the doctor allegedly raped her.
The patient told the Indian Express, "When I got consciousness, I came to know that the accused had raped me. When I questioned him, he started threatening me with dire consequences. I was scared and left the hotel." According to Hindustan Times, the doctor even offered her Rs 10,000 to keep quiet. However, the patient approached the police and filed a complaint against the doctor.
Accordingly, the doctor was booked.
