Rajasthan Medical Council cancels history-sheeter doctor's registration over repeated PCPNDT violations

Jaipur: The Rajasthan Medical Council (RMC) has cancelled the medical registration of a doctor who was repeatedly arrested for allegedly conducting illegal fetal sex determination tests in violation of the PCPNDT Act.
With the cancellation of his registration, he is no longer allowed to practise medicine in Rajasthan.
After repeatedly being caught for illegal fetal sex determination, he was declared a history-sheeter by the Jodhpur Police.
The decision to cancel his registration was taken during the 136th General Body meeting of the Rajasthan Medical Council held on June 30 after the council received complaints from the Human Rights Commission, the National Medical Commission (NMC), and the PCPNDT Cell about the doctor's illegal activities.
Following this, the Penal and Ethical Committee examined the complaints, heard both the complainant and the respondent, reviewed witness statements and other evidence, and submitted its recommendations. The General Body then took the final decision to cancel his registration.
As per a latest media report by Dainik Bhaskar, the doctor was first arrested in October 2016 while serving as the in-charge of the Balesar Community Health Centre (CHC) in Jodhpur. The PCPNDT Cell allegedly caught him conducting an illegal sex determination test at the house of his associate. Following the arrest, he was sent to jail and suspended by the Health Department.
Seven months later, in May 2017, he was arrested again for allegedly running another sex determination racket through a network of middlemen.
In January 2018, the PCPNDT Cell received information that pregnant women from Jhunjhunu were being brought to Jodhpur for illegal fetal sex determination tests.
Acting on the information, the team sent a decoy pregnant woman and an accomplice. After reaching Jodhpur railway station, a middleman picked up the decoy in a car, where the test was allegedly conducted while the vehicle was moving. The PCPNDT Cell then arrested him and recovered a portable ultrasound machine and Rs 15,000 in cash.
On 9 September 2018, the PCPNDT Cell carried out another decoy operation and caught him allegedly conducting an illegal fetal sex determination test inside a house along with one of his middlemen.
Another case was registered against him in 2022, regarding the same issue.
Despite four criminal cases being registered against him, he allegedly continued to conduct illegal fetal sex determination tests. In view of his repeated involvement, the Jodhpur Police opened a history sheet against him about seven years ago.
