Renowned orthodontist Dr Satheesh Kumar Reddy appointed as President of Dental Council of India

New Delhi: Renowned orthodontist, Director and Consultant at FMS Dental Hospital, Dr Satheesh Kumar Reddy has been appointed as the President of the Dental Council of India (DCI), effective November 29.

Previously serving as the Vice President of DCI, Dr Reddy has been promoted to Acting President following the completion of Dr Dibyendu Mazumder's tenure on November 28.

An official circular issued in this regard mentioned, "Consequent upon completion of tenure of Dr. Dibyendu Mazumdar, President DCI on 28th November 2024, Dr. Satheesh Kumar Reddy, Vice President DCI has now taken over the charge of the Acting President of Dental Council of India with effect from 29th November 2024."

Dr K. Satheesh Kumar Reddy is a very versatile orthodontist. He is the Director & Consultant Orthodontist at FMS Dental Hospital for the past 20 years. His areas of interest are invisible orthodontics (clear aligners), lingual orthodontics, self-ligating systems, surgical orthodontics and micro-implants.

Dr Reddy brings with him 3 decades of excellence in both the clinical and the academic aspects of Orthodontics. He handles even the most complicated cases with utmost ease. His professional experience also includes writing articles on clinical techniques and practice management for orthodontic and dental publications.

He is an Ex-Member of the Academic Senate of Dr NTR University of Health Sciences, Andhra Pradesh. He previously worked as a Professor and Director Department of Orthodontics and Dentofacial Orthopedics at Sri Sai College of Dental Surgery, Hyderabad. Worked as a member of the Dental Council of India for 10 years (2004 to 2014).

He has done his BDS and MDS from Governmental Dental College, Hyderabad. He has also been a member of the High Power Committee in the Department of Health, Government of Andhra Pradesh for evaluation and recommendation of applications for the issue of EC for establishing Medical/Dental/Nursing/BHAMS colleges in the private sector, to the Government of Andhra Pradesh for 4 consecutive terms from 2004 to 2008.

He has been the President of A P Orthodontic Study Group for more than 10 years. He was the Organizing Chairman of the 50th India Orthodontic Conference held in Hyderabad in 2015 and has been instrumental in conducting various dental checkup camps with active participation. Other than academic pursuits, Dr K Satheesh Kumar Reddy is also a sports enthusiast participating and winning in Chess, Shuttle Badminton, and golf at college and club-level tournaments.
