RG Kar Case: Court grants bail to Ex-principal Sandip Ghosh
Kolkata: The Sealdah court in Kolkata on Friday granted bail to Sandip Ghosh, the former principal of RG Kar Medical College and Hospital, and Abhijit Mondal, the former officer-in-charge of Tala police station, in connection with the rape and murder case of a woman trainee doctor on August 9.
While Mondal was accused of alleged delay in filing of FIR in the rape and murder of the on-duty doctor at R G Kar Hospital on August 9, Sandip Ghosh was accused of tampering with evidence in the case.
The two were arrested by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), which is investigating the rape-murder case on an order of the Calcutta High Court.

According to the PTI report, the additional chief judicial magistrate (ACJM), Sealdah court, granted bail to the two accused persons as chargesheet against them was not filed within the mandatory 90-day period, a lawyer representing Sandip Ghosh said.
Mondal's lawyer told reporters outside the court that he will walk out of the correctional home where he is incarcerated on judicial remand.
Sandip Ghosh, who is on judicial remand in another case of alleged financial irregularities at R G Kar Medical College and Hospital, will however, remain behind bars despite being granted bail in the rape-murder case.
Medicalk Dialogues had earlier reported that the trial in the rape and murder of a postgraduate doctor trainee at RG Kar Medical College and Hospital at Kolkata was likely to conclude in a month, says Supreme Court. After perusing the CBI’s report, a bench comprising Chief Justice Sanjiv Khanna and Justice Sanjay Kumar noted the trial was proceeding on a daily basis -- Monday to Thursday -- at the Special CBI Court in Sealdah.
