RML Lucknow resident doctor allegedly slaps intern, probe on
Lucknow: In an alleged case of the assault caused by one doctor to another, a resident doctor of Ram Manohar Lohia Institute of Medical Sciences (RMLIMS) Lucknow has been accused of slapping an intern doctor at the workplace, following which a probe has been ordered in this connection.
To identify the reason for the incident and punish the individual who was at fault, the authorities formed a panel on Thursday to probe the case after a complaint was made by the intern.
As part of the investigation, the panel will record the statements of both the accused and the complainant and cross-verify them against those present at the time of the incident. Therefore, action will be taken after a brief report will be submitted by the probe panel.
The incident took place on June 8 when the resident doctor reportedly slapped the intern at the workplace of the institute. Following this, the intern along with his 2018 batch, wrote a letter to the dean demanding immediate action for their safety and a public apology by the accused.
In the letter, it was mentioned, "We are deeply concerned about the safety and well-being of the interns and staff members in our institution. We demand suspension of at least one month for the accused."
"We trust that you will treat this matter with utmost seriousness and initiate prompt and decisive action to rectify the situation. We would appreciate being kept informed about the progress made in addressing this complaint and the actions taken to prevent such incidents in the future," it reads further.
In response to the complaint, a spokesperson of the institute, Dr AK Jain, informed HT, "A probe has been ordered after the complaint reached the dean office. It primarily seems to be a case of commotion at the workplace. We would decide any further action based upon the report."
