Rs 30K for MBBS, Rs 1.3 lakh for PG: RML Hospital releases stipend compliance with NMC guidelines

New Delhi: Through a recent circular, the Atal Bihari Vajpayee Institute of Medical Sciences and Dr Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital, in compliance with a public notice by the National Medical Commission regarding stipend disbursement, have confirmed that stipend and salaries for interns and resident doctors have been paid up to February 2026 for the financial year 2025–26.
The hospital administration stated that all eligible undergraduate (UG) interns, postgraduate (PG) residents, and senior residents, including those pursuing super-specialty courses, have received their dues as per entitlement. The payments cover the period up to February 2026 and were processed for release in March 2026.
As per the annexure attached to the circular, MBBS interns at the institute receive a monthly stipend of Rs 30,070. For postgraduate residents, the first-year residents receive Rs 1.34 lakh per month, second-year residents about Rs 1.38 lakh, and third-year residents around Rs 1.42 lakh.
Meanwhile, senior residents and super-specialty trainees receive around Rs 1.6 lakh per month across all three years.
The circular issued by the ABVIMS & Dr RML Hospital, New Delhi, on 7.3.2026 mentioned, "Please refer to the Public Notice, uploaded by National Medical Commission in its website vide their letter No CDN-20011/98/2024-Coordinatioin-NMC dt 16-04-2024 on the above subject matter and our earlier circular No F. No. Ac-161312024-Acc(ABVIMS/E-238271489 dt 05-02-2026.
This is to certify that in compliance with the above notice, effected Stipend / Salary to UG interns, Post-Graduate Residents and Senior Residents or PG in Super Specialty has been paid by ABVIMS & Dr. RI-/L Hospital for the period up to Feb 2026 and for the financial year 2025-26 as per the beneficiary's entitlements and eligibility. The details of which are as per the attached Annexure. In case of any further query /problem, the payees are free to contact their controlling branch, say UG / PG Cell, Accounts Section or the undersigned."
The circular further explains that the stipend and salary figures mentioned are the monthly amounts paid to each trainee. The hospital administration stated that the admission for the 2024 batch took place recently, so salaries for other student doctors were released only after official orders were received in September and October 2025.
It adds, "PG 3rd year, 2022 Batch has been disbursed, and one month salary (Oct 2025) was withheld till final clearance. Orders for the release of 80 student doctors' salaries were received, and the same were paid. SR 3rd year, 2022 Batch has been disbursed and subsequently, students promoted to next class. Admission for the new SR-2025 batch is yet to take place. New PG-2025 batch admissions are under progress. The salary shall be released on receipt of joining orders from the PG Section."

Medical Dialogues had earlier reported that the National Medical Commission (NMC) imposed a penalty of Rs 1 crore each on seven medical colleges for failing to disclose information regarding payment of stipends to MBBS interns and postgraduate medical residents.
The colleges on which the penalty was imposed include Akash Institute of Medical Sciences and Research Centre, Devanahalli, Karnataka, Dumka Medical College, Jharkhand, Government Medical College Barmer, Rajasthan, Government Medical College Ongole, Andhra Pradesh, RKDF Medical College Hospital and Research Centre, Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh, Prasad Institute of Medical Sciences, Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh and Pt. B. D. Sharma Postgraduate Institute of Medical Sciences, Rohtak, Haryana.
