Tamil Nadu: Homeopath arrested for allegedly assaulting a minor girl
Coimbatore: Based on the complaint filed by a minor's mother, a Perumanallur-based Homeopathy doctor has been arrested by police for allegedly assaulting a minor girl. The girl, who used to work at the practitioner's clinic as an attender, told her mother about the alleged sexual assaults over a period of four months.
Police have registered a case against the doctor under sections 5(e) (whoever being on the management or staff of a hospital commits penetrative sexual assault on a child in that hospital), 5(l) (whoever commits penetrative sexual assault on the child more than once or repeatedly) read with 6 (punishment for aggravated penetrative sexual assault) of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act and Section 506(ii) (criminal intimidation) of the Indian Penal Code.

As per the latest media report by The Hindu, the 50 year-old homeopathy doctor in question used to run a homeopathy clinic near Uthukuli.
The 14-year-old minor girl, a student of class IX, had been working at the practitioner's clinic for four months as an attendant as she didn't have classes due to pandemic, adds the Times of India.
The Hindu adds that when the girl told her mother about the alleged incident of sexual assault during those four months, the mother lodged a complaint at the All Women Police Station, Kangeyam.
While commenting on the incident, a police officer informed TOI, "He sexually assaulted the minor girl several times at the clinic and threatened her of dire consequences if she disclosed the matter to anyone. Unable to bear the torture, the girl told her mother about the sexual assault on Saturday. The mother lodged a complaint."
Medical Dialogues team earlier reported a similar type of incident where a doctor attached to a city hospital, along with his relative was recently arrested for allegedly attempting to sexually assault their former maid when she visited their place to seek her pending salary.
