Sangareddy: In a major action over alleged negligence at a government hospital, two more doctors have been suspended from the 100-bed Jogipet Area Hospital in Sangareddy district for allegedly allowing private doctors to perform their duties in their place.
The latest action comes after officials reportedly found private doctors working at the government hospital instead of the designated doctors. Earlier, another doctor was suspended after officials allegedly found that a private doctor had been allowed to perform duties on his behalf.
According to reports, the two doctors were suspended following similar findings reported at the hospital.
Telangana Health Minister Damodar Rajanarsimha expressed deep anguish over the alleged negligence by hospital officials, reports Deccan Chronicle.
The Jogipet Police have registered an FIR in connection with the matter and launched a further investigation. Police officials said that private doctors found working at the government hospital in place of designated doctors could also face criminal cases.
Further investigation is underway, with authorities expected to examine how the alleged arrangement was permitted and whether other officials or doctors were involved.
Medical Dialogues had previously reported that a junior doctor at SN Medical College, Agra, has been suspended for 15 days after a viral video allegedly showed patients being charged Rs 300 for ECG tests in a government hospital ward, despite the prescribed fee being Rs 68. Following an internal inquiry, the college administration also issued a warning to the concerned department, citing negligence in the incident.
The action comes days after a video circulated on social media alleging that an individual posing as a private employee was collecting money from patients for ECG tests inside the orthopaedic ward of the hospital's New Surgery Building.
