Telangana Medical Council busts Quacks operating Laser, Hair Transplant clinics

Fake doctor
Hyderabad: In a recent crackdown on illegal medical practices, the Telangana State Medical Council (TGMC) has uncovered a disturbing case of Quacks performing advanced dermatological and cosmetic procedures at a posh clinic, Amyra, in Hanamkonda. The clinic was found to be performing complex dermatological and cosmetic procedures, including hair transplantation, skin care treatments, platelet-rich plasma (PRP) therapy, and laser therapy.
During the inspection led by a TGMC team comprising Dr. V Naresh Kumar, Dr. Anwar Mia, Dr. Venkataswamy, and Hanamkonda Additional DM&HO Dr. Madan Mohan, serious lapses were discovered. According to TGMC, the clinic was operated by two individuals without any medical qualifications. It was also revealed that the clinic lacked official authorisation from the District Medical and Health Officer (DM&HO). Despite not being licensed professionals, the duo allegedly posed as doctors and carried out high-risk cosmetic procedures on unsuspecting patients.

As per the news reports, further inspections revealed additional malpractice in other locations. Srinivasa Clinic in Bheemaram was operated by an individual who also lacked any recognised medical qualifications. Meanwhile, the SRR Diagnostic Centre at Erragattugutta X Road was found to be run by a lab technician who was independently performing high-end diagnostic tests without the authority or credentials to do so.
Legal proceedings have been initiated against the individuals involved. They will face charges under Sections 34 and 54 of the National Medical Commission (NMC) Act and Section 22 of the Telangana State Medical Practitioners Registration (TSPMR) Act.
According to Telangana Today, “Complex procedures like laser and hair transplantation should be performed by doctors who have completed MD Dermatology or MCh Plastic Surgery. It is illegal for dental doctors with a BDS degree or any other individuals without valid medical recognition to perform cosmetology, hair transplantation, and laser treatments. Legal action will be taken against such individuals,” TGMC Public Relations Committee Chairman Dr Narender Kumar said.
