Thrashed, dragged, kicked! Video of doctor assaulting elderly in-laws goes viral

Bengaluru: In a shocking incident of domestic violence, a Bengaluru-based doctor employed at Victoria Government Hospital has been booked on charges of assault and criminal intimidation after a disturbing video of her allegedly brutally abusing, beating, and harassing her elderly in-laws by forcefully entering the house went viral on social media.

Not only the doctor but also her children were involved in harassing her elderly in-laws, who are around 80 years old. The harassment stemmed from a marital dispute between her husband over financial responsibility for their children after they filed for a divorce a long time ago following their marriage in 2007.

In the viral video, the doctor is seen attacking her elderly in-laws and husband while shouting at those recording the incident on their mobiles. She is seen dragging her mother-in-law, a cancer survivor, by her mangalsutra, while her children can be seen kicking their grandfather, a heart patient, and stomping on him. Her husband could also be seen shielding his parents from getting assaulted.

The shocking incident came to light when a user shared it on the popular social media platform 'X. ' Posting the video, which has now gathered over 6 lakh views, the user wrote, "It is deeply disturbing to see elderly parents suffering abuse at the hands of their daughters-in-law."

The posts revealed that the doctor had been harassing the elderly couple for over a decade. Despite a court order prohibiting her from visiting them, she allegedly broke into their home with her two children and assaulted them.

The incident took place at around 8:30 pm on March 10 when the doctor forcefully entered her in-laws' house along with her daughter and son. She reportedly abused the couple and her husband and allegedly issued them death threats along with thrashing them, which is visible in the viral video.

The user in his post stated that the alleged harassment and mistreatment of the doctor forced the aged couple to leave their own house and live in a rented home. "A court had ruled that she had no right to visit them, yet on March 10 at 8:15 PM, she and her two children forcefully entered their home and physically assaulted them. Her 80-year-old father-in-law, a heart patient, was kicked and stamped upon, while her mother-in-law, a cancer survivor, was dragged by her mangalsutra for over five minutes, " the user added, demanding strict action against the doctor.

Following the incident, the father-in-law approached the police and filed a complaint against his daughter-in-law. Based on the complaint, the police registered a case and booked the doctor under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) sections 115 (voluntarily causing hurt), 126 (wrongful restraint), 351 (criminal intimidation), and 352 (intentional insult with intent to provoke breach of peace).

According to the police, as reported by TOI, the dispute in the family has been ongoing for many years. The doctor claims she visited her husband's home to question him about not taking financial responsibility for their children. She claimed her in-laws provoked her and her children. When she and her children lost patience and reacted, they recorded the video. However, the statements of the elderly couple present a different scenario. Both of the parties' statements are under investigation for verification. Action will be taken based on the evidence.

Meanwhile, the viral video has gained widespread outrage and criticism from netizens who are calling out the doctor for her alleged horrific act and urging the police department to take strict action against her.

According to the latest media report by Latestly, Additional Commissioner Vikash Kumar Vikash confirmed that the doctor has been summoned for questioning. Therefore, an investigation is underway.
