Tirupur: Fake doctor arrested, nabbed by health officials
Tirupur: A fake doctor has been arrested from Thanjavur district for allegedly treating patients without any legitimate medical degree.
The accused has been identified as a 42-year-old man named P Jayakumar who was running KS Clinic near Kaikatti at Avinashi for the past two years, said the police.
After getting some insight about the illegal clinic, a team of health officials inspected the clinic and found that Jayakumar was unable to provide his certificate and registration number upon being asked by the officials.

A police officer told TOI on Wednesday, "When he failed to answer them properly, the health officials inquired about the medical background. While he had completed only the Bachelor of Medical Science course, he was offering allopathy treatment to the patients for the past two years."
Later, a complaint was filed against Jayakumar by the district health department with the Avinashi police.

A case was registered under Sections 417 (punishment for cheating) and 420 (cheating and dishonestly inducing delivery of property) of the Indian Penal Code, and Sections 15(2)(a) and 15(2)(b) of the Indian Medical Council Act, 1956 and police arrested him.
As a result, Jayakumar was brought before a judicial magistrate and taken into judicial detention at the Avinashi sub-jail.

Medical Dialogues team had recently published similar news that a 34-year-old college dropout for posing as an Ayurveda doctor and "practicing" in a health clinic was arrested by the police. the arrest was made recently as a part of a joint operation by the Dindoshi Police and the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC)'s P/North Ward.
The civic body had been verifying the qualifications of doctors in its jurisdiction after coming across instances where people with fake medical degrees were found treating patients and prescribing medicines.
