TRP over Humanity: LNJP doctor blocked by media during blast emergency
New Delhi: In moments of emergencies, when every second matters and doctors are needed to treat critically injured patients fighting for their lives, a shocking incident unfolded outside Delhi’s Lok Nayak Jai Prakash (LNJP) Hospital where a doctor rushing inside to handle victims of the Red Fort car blast was allegedly blocked by media personnel, who crowded around him for “exclusive bytes” instead of allowing him to enter.
According to media reports, in a viral video, the distressed doctor can be seen requesting that reporters and cameramen let him inside to attend to patients. However, the crowd continued to surround him, eager to get details on the number of deaths and injuries.
The scene has sparked widespread outrage on social media, with users calling out the insensitivity of the media for prioritising footage and TRP over human lives.

In the viral video, the doctor could be seen saying, "Please, I am getting late. I cannot tell how many people got injured. I just talked with my senior."
A user commenting under the viral video posted on Instagram said, "Indian media is ruining their image day by day." Another user said, "It's time the media is taken inside the law. They cannot do what they want."
A doctor sharing the video posted on 'X', "This is the Indian media ecosystem we’re stuck with. A doctor is literally begging them to move aside so he can enter LNJP Hospital, and these clowns are blocking the gate because they want a byte for TRP. A human life may be hanging in the balance and the media is busy staging drama outside the hospital like it’s some reality show. Shameless. Absolutely shameless. No ethics, no sense of responsibility, no respect for frontline staff. They’ll scream “save lives” on primetime but won’t move two steps to let a doctor actually save one."
Doctors served without pause
Since the night of the Red Fort terror attack, more than 50 doctors at Delhi’s LNJP Hospital have been working without a break to treat those injured in the explosion. Many of them have been on duty continuously since Monday night, battling to save lives.
According to hospital officials, around 25 patients are currently being treated at the hospital, and none have been shifted elsewhere. The hospital’s 70-bed disaster ward, created for emergencies of this scale, was activated within minutes of the first casualties arriving.
As per the TOI news report, the injuries were severe and complex. Doctors had to perform amputations and treat crush injuries, deep wounds from shrapnel and pellets, broken bones, and ruptured eardrums caused by the powerful shockwaves of the blast.
Doctors said at least four blast victims suffered pneumothorax, a condition in which air leaks into the space between the lungs and chest wall, causing the lungs to collapse after being hit by the explosion's shockwave. They were treated with intercostal (between the ribs) drainage tubes to remove the trapped air and help the lungs expand again.
While the numbers could not be officially corroborated, TOI sources said some victims lost limbs, including legs and fingers, in the blast. At least one patient is reported to have undergone a major amputation.
