UP: Eminent cardiologist Dr Fazal Karim succumbs to Covid-19
Lucknow: After almost a month-long battle against Covid-19, eminent cardiologist Dr Fazal Karim succumbed to the infection and allied complications on Wednesday morning at Era's Lucknow Medical College & hospital (ELMCH).
The hospital authorities have confirmed that the doctor passed away after suffering a brain stroke and other complications.
After completing his MBBS from Aligarh Muslim University (AMU), Dr Karim pursued his MD and DM Cardiology from PGI Chandigarh after which he joined ELMCH in 2015.
The doctor is survived by his mother, wife, and three children two of whom are barely eight months old.
His untimely death has created a void in the medical fraternity that is yet to be fulfilled. Many of the students of Dr Karim and his colleagues have extended their condolences via social media.
" The untimely demise of our beloved mentor & teacher, Prof ( Dr) Fazal Karim Sir due to COVID yesterday has shattered our hopes & spirit. Fazal Sir, a PGI CHANDIGARH alumni, was a cardiologist par excellence and was serving as HOD, Dept. Of Cardiology at our hospital, Era University", stated one of his students.
Another posted, " Dr Fazal Karim (MBBS. MD) Chief Cardiologist, Era Medical University, Lucknow lost the battle to Corona !! This Noorani face always needs to be remembered. May his soul reaches heavenly abode and may god gives strength and patience to the family members, Amin."
