UP Invites Applications for Principal Posts in State Medical Colleges

Lucknow: The Director General of Medical Education and Training (DGMET), Uttar Pradesh, has invited applications from Indian nationals for the post of Principal in Autonomous State Medical Colleges across the state. One post is available in each of the medical colleges located at Kanpur Dehat, Kushinagar, Bijnor, Sultanpur, Sonebhadra, Gonda, Amethi, and Bulandshahr.
According to the notification, applicants must meet specific age, qualification, and experience criteria. Candidates should be at least 50 years old and not more than 62 years of age as on July 1, 2026. The post is intended for individuals with eminent medical and administrative experience.
As per the National Medical Commission (NMC) Gazette Notification dated June 30, 2025, eligibility for the administrative post of Principal requires the candidate to have a minimum of 10 years of teaching experience in a medical institution, out of which at least five years must be as a Professor.
The selected candidates will be appointed in Academic Level-14, with an entry pay of ₹1,44,200, along with applicable allowances, as decided by the State Government for Principals of Government Medical Colleges.
Applicants are required to pay an application fee of ₹1,000 through a bank demand draft drawn in favour of Director General Medical Education and Training, U.P. Lucknow, payable at Lucknow. Candidates applying for more than one college must submit separate application forms, along with the requisite documents and demand draft for each institution.
Interested candidates must submit their applications in the prescribed format, downloadable from the website along with self-attested certificates, by 5:00 PM on March 6, 2026. Applications should be sent only through registered or speed post to the Office of the Director General, Medical Education and Training, U.P., Jawahar Bhawan, 6th Floor, Lucknow–226001. Applications received after the due date or found incomplete will not be considered.
