UP Surgeon allegedly sexually harasses 14-year-old girl, booked under POCSO
Muzaffarnagar: In a shocking incident, a surgeon of a private hospital here has been booked for allegedly sexually harassing a 14-year-old girl who was admitted for gallbladder stone removal surgery.
According to the police, the doctor is facing charges under sections of BNS for "assaulting or using criminal force against a woman" and the Pocso Act after an FIR was registered based on the complaints of the patient's mother.
In her police complaint, lodged on Wednesday, her mother alleged that the incident took place on August 17 at the health facility where she was admitted for surgery for the removal of gallbladder stones. She accused the surgeon of molesting her daughter when she was under treatment at the hospital.

She alleged that the surgeon on the pretext of checking stitches post-surgery, lifted her clothes and started touching her private parts with the wrong intention. In suspicion of the doctor's act, her daughter called her parents inside the room.
"Around 3-4 hours after the operation, the surgeon visited my daughter in the room and told my son, brother and myself, who were present, to leave as he needed to check her. While we were out, he, on the pretext of checking stitches post-surgery, lifted her clothes and started touching her private parts with wrong intention. He told my daughter that he was just checking and she should close her eyes, but she perhaps understood what he was up to and called us in. As soon as we entered, he left the room...," the mother alleged as quoted by TOI.
Speaking to the Daily regarding the matter, SHO (Nai Mandi), Babloo Kumar, said, "The nursing home is situated at New Mandi Kotwali in Muzaffarnagar. A case was registered under BNS sections 75 and 76 (assault or use of criminal force to woman with intent to disrobe) along with the Pocso Act after a complaint by the girl's mother."
Following this, the police are currently investigating the matter in detail and assured that action will be taken accordingly.
