Vadodara-based Unani doctor booked for duping patient of Rs 3.5 lakh
Vadodara: A Vadodara-based Unani doctor has been booked in a cheating case by an advocate who alleged that the former cheated him of Rs 3.51 lakh under the pretext of treating his wife.
According to the complaint filed by Niranjan Kumar at the J P road police station, the doctor along with his assistant disappeared with the money without completing the treatment.
The complainant got to know about the doctor through a person called Nitin Agrawal, who told them that the doctor had cured his mother's health problems. Agrawal approached the duo and enquired about the health difficulties faced by the advocate's wife while the latter was walking through the Alkapuri area of the city in November 2021.
Kumar said that his wife was unable to walk due to pain in her knees and waist, following which Agrawal gave him the number of the doctor while narrating how he had helped his mother who also had similar problems.
The doctor and his assistant came to the advocate's house the next day and suggested treatment for the latter's wife, reports the Times of India. The doctor charged Rs 3.51 lakh for the treatment and promised a complete cure. After getting paid and completing treatment, the doctor left and enquired about her health two days later.
After a few days, Kumar informed the doctor that his wife still had the pain following which he promised to immediately send her lab reports. However, the doctor's phone was later found to be switched off and he had disappeared.
When the advocate asked Agrawal, the latter said that the doctor might be travelling. Kumar filed a complaint at the police station after Agrawal also disappeared.
