Video of doctor in inebriated state in emergency department goes viral
Surajpur: A show cause notice has been issued to an on-duty doctor posted at Surajpur District Hospital after a video went viral, showing him severely intoxicated and struggling to speak or walk properly.
In the video, the doctor is seen struggling to speak clearly, with his tongue faltering, and unable to stand properly. This raised serious concerns about his ability to provide adequate care to the patients admitted to the hospital.

As per a Patrika news report, the doctor is a resident of Mathpara of Ambikapur who was on duty in the emergency department of the hospital on Monday night. He allegedly arrived for duty in a drunken state.
After noticing his condition, a person approached him enquiring about the condition of a baby. However, the doctor in the video could not say anything and asked him to consult a senior doctor. The doctor was struggling to maintain his balance and was unable to express his thoughts properly. Subsequently, the conversation captured in the video then went viral.
As soon as the video gained the attention of the hospital authorities, they immediately took action and served him a show cause notice.
Civil surgeon of Surajpur District Hospital, Dr Ajay Markam told the Daily, "After this matter came to light, a show cause notice has been issued to him. Further action will be taken after receiving the reply."
