Visakhapatnam: Doctors directed to focus on seasonal diseases
Visakhapatnam: While taking part in a review meeting at the Zone-4 Municipal Office of Greater Visakhapatnam Municipal Corporation (GVMC), District Collector A. Mallikarjuna advised the doctors to remain alert to seasonal diseases and provide better healthcare services to patients.
The collector asked the doctors to remain conscious of seasonal diseases like dengue and malaria in Visakhapatnam and asked the doctors to visit every house under their jurisdiction to create awareness amongst people.

Further, he asked the officials to strictly implement the 'Friday, Dry Day' programme and perform a field-level inspection of areas from where dengue was reported. He further directed the officials to strictly enforce the biometric attendance except those on leave, observing that any negligence in discharging duties would be taken seriously.
The medical officers were directed to take measures to reduce maternal and infant mortality rates by the collector, who also stressed the need to examine all pregnant women at least four times, as per the Hans India media report. He noted that steps should be taken in order to prevent early marriages and early pregnancies by organising awareness programmes for the target groups.
The need to create awareness amongst the people to take their booster dose for COVID-19 was also talked about. The meeting saw the presence of District Medical and Health Officer K. Vijaya Lakshmi, DPMO Rama Reddy, and District Malaria Officer Y. Mani, reports the Hindu. The Medical officers of PHCs and UPHCs were also present at the meeting.
Medical Dialogues team had earlier reported about the decision taken during the meeting of the Medical Education department called by Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, where it had been decided that the Maharashtra government would set up new medical colleges in 12 districts by taking a loan of Rs 4000 crore from the Asian Development Bank (ADB).
