COVID service period will be counted as Compulsory Service: Govt Relief to PG medicos in UP
Lucknow: Through a recent order, the Medical Education and Training Department of Uttar Pradesh has announced its decision of acknowledging the services provided by the resident doctors during the COVID-19 pandemic as part of their compulsory government service bond.
The Director General of State Medical Education and Training Department issued this order after several senior residents from the 2018 batch wrote to them in this regard.
Submitting a jointly signed application to the office of the Director General of State Medical Education department, these doctors from 2018 batch informed that after completing their postgraduate course back in 2021, they had been faced delay regarding their employment by the State government under the compulsory government service bond.
At that time, after completing their PG medical course, they had been employed from the institute level itself while keeping in view the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.
However, the doctors submitted that at that time, no instructions had been issued regarding the services of the said period being included under the Compulsory Government Service Bond.
Referring to this, the doctors wrote to the Medical Education Department of the State and requested the authorities to include the services rendered by them in the institute back in 2021 in the compulsory government service bond.
Taking note of the matter, the Director General of UP Medical Education and Training Department issued the recent office order and offered relief to those doctors.
Considering the facts expressed by the doctors, the UP Medical Education department announced that the service period of such candidates of NEET PG 2018 batch, who were employed from the Institute, Medical College / Medical University level in the year 2021 during the COVID-19 pandemic, has been included in the period of the compulsory government service bond.
"Accordingly, the compliance of the said order should be ensured," read the order issued by Director General Shruti Singh.
Copy of the concerned order has also been sent to several authorities including the Principal Secretary of the UP Medical Education Section, the Directors of SGGI Lucknow, Dr. RMLIMS Lucknow, State Institute of Medical Sciences and the Principals of all Government and autonomous medical colleges of the State.
