Haryana Health Dept officials told to Inspect MTP, Ultrasound Centers

Sudhir Rajpal Orders Inspections on MTP and Ultrasound Centers
Chandigarh: Haryana’s Additional Chief Secretary (ACS) for Health and Family Welfare, Sudhir Rajpal, has once again directed health department officials to conduct inspections of all Medical Termination of Pregnancy (MTP) and ultrasound centres throughout the state. During a review meeting on Tuesday with officials from the Health and Women and Child Welfare (WCD) departments, Rajpal issued stern warnings to these centres.
According to the news reports, there are currently 1,513 MTP centres and 2,037 functional ultrasound centres in the state.
Rajpal stated that stringent action would be taken against the MTP and ultrasound centres violating norms. He added that if any doctor is found involved in malpractices at these centres, the health department must notify the Haryana Medical Council for the immediate cancellation of their medical registration.

In addition to inspections, Rajpal has directed Chief Medical Officers (CMOs) across the state to track and analyze all abortion cases. He also ordered that the MTP centers be closely monitored to prevent any unethical practices from occurring. The ACS emphasized that all ultrasound machines in the state should be equipped with functional trackers that will send automatic SMS alerts to health authorities in case of any sex determination.
