Haryana Launches Stop Diarrhoea Campaign 2025 to Prevent Child Deaths
'Stop Diarrhoea 2025' Campaign Begins Amid Rising Child Health Concerns
Gurugram: In response to a concerning rise in diarrhoea cases among children, the Haryana Health Department has launched the "Stop Diarrhoea Campaign 2025," aiming to curb deaths among children under five. The campaign, which began on June 16 and will run until July 31, focuses on prevention, early treatment, and awareness.
The campaign, themed "Take care of diarrhoea prevention, cleanliness, and ORS," aims to reach around 23 lakh children under the age of five across the state. It focuses on ensuring the timely distribution of ORS and zinc supplements, which are crucial for treating diarrhoea and preventing dehydration.
According to health officials, diarrhoea — especially cases linked to rotavirus infections — continues to pose a serious health challenge, particularly during seasonal transitions. It accounts for 6–7% of all child deaths under five in the state.

According to TOI, "All districts have been directed to distribute ORS and Zinc tablets to households," stated Dr Virender Yadav, director of National Health Mission (NHM), Haryana.
The campaign stresses door-to-door outreach, with Accredited Social Health Activists (ASHAs) and Auxiliary Nurse Midwives (ANMs) distributing ORS and zinc kits and raising awareness about hygiene, safe drinking water, and handwashing practices.
Speaking to TOI, an official stated, "A health worker, who is trained in the preparation of ORS solution and Zinc solution, is being posted to manage the corner. The doctors should counsel the mother in person about the administration of Zinc for 14 days. Each patient should be provided with at least one ORS packet and 13 tablets of Zinc to take home.”
The health department is partnering with multiple other departments, including Women and Child Development, Panchayati Raj, Jal Jeevan Mission, and Rural and Urban Development, to ensure the campaign reaches the widest possible audience.
