2 major Delhi hospitals achieve prestigious NQAS certification

LNJP and Malaviya Hospitals Achieve High NQAS Scores
New Delhi: In a major boost to public healthcare standards in the national capital, two leading government hospitals—Lok Nayak Jai Prakash (LNJP) Hospital and Pandit Madan Mohan Malaviya Hospital—have received the prestigious ‘Quality Certified’ recognition under the National Quality Assurance Standards (NQAS) framework of the Government of India.
According to news reports, LNJP Hospital secured a score of 95.89%, while Pandit Madan Mohan Malaviya Hospital achieved 96.72% during the national assessment process. LNJP Hospital has also become the first 2,000-bed government hospital in India to receive NQAS certification, marking a significant milestone in the public healthcare system.

The evaluation covered several critical healthcare parameters, including outpatient services (OPD), intensive care units (ICU), emergency services, maternal and child healthcare, blood bank operations, radiology, laboratory services, and other support systems.
Officials said the recognition was a significant step towards strengthening the public healthcare system in the city.
Delhi Health Minister Dr Pankaj Kumar Singh said the government is focused on delivering results rather than making promises, adding that reforms are being implemented to strengthen the capital’s healthcare system. He noted that previous years saw gaps in vision and accountability, which are now being addressed through structured improvements.
“Special emphasis is being laid on cleanliness and hygiene in all Delhi government hospitals under the ‘Kayakalp’ initiative. In the coming days, 14 MRI machines and more than 25 ultrasound machines will be installed in government hospitals to ensure advanced healthcare services and reduce the inconvenience faced by patients,” the minister said, reports TNIE.
The minister stated that Delhi’s public healthcare institutions are steadily moving towards global standards, with improvements in sanitation, infrastructure, and diagnostic capabilities. The recent certification under the NQAS framework, he said, reflects this broader push toward a more patient-centric and efficient healthcare system.
Officials described the achievement as a step toward the vision of “Healthy Delhi, Empowered Delhi.”
According to LNJP Hospital officials, the certification follows several years of internal reforms, including strengthened infection control protocols, improved biomedical waste management systems, structured sanitisation practices, and mandatory staff training in infection prevention.
The hospital also implemented digital monitoring systems, grievance redressal mechanisms, improved drug inventory management, and efforts to ensure uninterrupted utilities such as electricity and water supply. Standardised treatment protocols and patient feedback systems were also expanded.
The certification is also expected to bring financial benefits. Under the Ayushman Bharat–Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (AB-PMJAY), NQAS-certified hospitals are eligible for an additional 15% incentive over standard package rates, potentially translating into over Rs 2 crore annually for LNJP Hospital.
LNJP Medical Director B L Chaudhary congratulated doctors, nurses, faculty members, healthcare workers, administrative personnel, sanitation staff, security staff, PWD personnel, and support staff for their contribution towards the achievement, reports PTI.
