200 Govt Hospitals in Kerala achieve NQAS Accreditation
Thiruvananthapuram: Kerala has achieved a significant milestone in the healthcare sector, with 200 government hospitals across the state receiving National Quality Assurance Standards (NQAS) certification, a prestigious national accreditation.
With the latest accreditation, three more institutions have been added to the list, Chinnakkanal Family Health Center in Idukki (94.92% score), Vengappally Family Health Center in Wayanad (89.65% score), and Muthanga Public Health Center in Wayanad (88.86% score).

The public hospitals in the State secured national-level quality standards with high scores, following a quality improvement initiative driven by the State.
According to official data, the accredited institutions include- 5 district hospitals, 4 taluk hospitals, 11 community health centres, 41 urban primary health centres, 135 family health centres and 4 public health centres.
The NQAS certification is valid for three years, after which institutions must undergo a re-evaluation by a national team. In addition, a state-level inspection will be conducted annually.
Health Minister Veena George made the announcement and told Asianet News, "Many health institutions in the state achieved this achievement with excellent scores. The government had prepared a special plan to raise health institutions to national quality. This achievement was achieved as a result of the development work carried out in hospitals on this basis.
As part of the initiative, the government has also announced financial incentives for accredited health centres. Family health centres will receive Rs 2 lahks annually, Public health centres will get Rs. 18,000 per package and Other hospitals will be provided Rs. 10,000 per bed.
