Chandigarh: The city will soon get a new 50-bedded hospital in Dhanas and Maloya in place of the existing health and wellness centres (HWC). The decision came after UT Advisor Dharam Pal inspected all the HWC on Monday.
The existing HWC in Dhanas and Maloya will be replaced with the new hospital and the construction will start soon after the allocation of the budget.
While he was discussing the plan with other health officials on the spot, he also said that telemedicine facilities should be made available to all the HWCs in the city as well as proper internet connection to access the e-Sanjeevani platform.

The Tribune reports that in order to rebuild the HWC in Daria, a land with sufficient area will be required for which the advisor has been suggested to use the animal husbandry land as well as the old centre to establish the new HWC.
He said that the new HWC in Daria will be completed within six months and ordered the engineers and architects to create a detailed report on the project and submit it.
A new HWC will be also established in MauliJagran in place of the old centre. A land has been found to construct the new HWC but due to some electric wire issues, the project has not been finalised yet.

The Advisor has asked to shift the skill centre in Hallomajra to a nearby school until the construction work of the new HWC in Hallomajra completes. The engineers and architects have been asked to design an upgraded version of the existing HWC in Hallomajra if the original plan to construct a new one fails.
Health Secretary Yashpal Garg, Health Director Dr Suman Singh, Chief Engineer CB Ojha and Chief Architect Kapil Setia were present at the meeting.
