70-year-old patient hangs self at Gwalior hospital

Gwalior: In an unfortunate incident, a 70-year-old cancer patient allegedly committed suicide by hanging himself inside the Jayarogya Hospital, a government-run facility under Gajra Raja Medical College in Gwalior in Madhya Pradesh, a police official said.
The incident took place on Thursday, when the deceased, who was admitted to the fifth-floor of the Jayarogya Hospital hung himself from the ward's window.
Ramkaran Singh, a resident of Morena district, hanged himself from a window of the fifth-floor ward where he was admitted using a towel, he said.

A team from Kampoo police station sent Singh’s body for post mortem, Additional Superintendent of Police Krishan Lalchandani said.
Singh’s kin have told police he was distressed due to his illness.
As per a media report in the Amar Ujala, tired of the unbearable pain of cancer, he made a noose of a towel and hanged himself on the window of the ward. By the time the hospital staff noticed, he had died. As soon as the information of the incident was received, the police reached the spot, took the body under surveillance and sent it for the postmortem.
