AIIMS Bhopal extends Urology OPD services

Bhopal: In view of an increasing number of patients in the department of urology, the administration of All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), Bhopal has decided to extend its OPD services on all working days including Saturday.

Earlier, the department provided its OPD services 4 days a week. By doing this, patients will now have access to medical care on all working days, making it more convenient for them to receive state-of-the-art facilities.

The Department of Urology was established as a distinct speciality at AIIMS Bhopal in Oct 2019. The OPD is attended by over 45,000 patients annually including close to 8400 new cases. The department conducts more than 800 major surgeries annually.

Talking about this, an official informed TOI, “The expansion of our OPD services to include Wednesdays and Saturdays demonstrates our commitment to serving the healthcare needs of our community. Patients can now schedule urology consultations and access our specialised treatments more conveniently than ever before.”

AIIMS Bhopal offers a wide range of specialised services and treatment at the urology department which includes laser surgeries, bloodless prostate removal, transperineal prostate biopsy and urological cancer surgeries and treatment. female and male urinary incontinence treatment, congenital anomalies treatments such as hypospadias, undescended testis and epispadias in pediatric and adult patients, ensuring proper development and functionality.

Urology faculty members include associate professors Dr Devashish Kaushal, Dr Kumar Madhavan and assistant professor Dr Ketan Mehra.
