AIIMS Bhubaneswar achieves top rank in health records linking under Ayushman Bharat

Bhubaneswar: The All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), Bhubaneswar, has been recognised as the No. 1 Government Facility in Health Record Linking under the Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission (ABDM).
This accolade highlights the institute’s leadership in advancing seamless, citizen-centric healthcare through innovative digital solutions.
According to a recent UNI report, AIIMS Bhubaneswar’s Executive Director, Ashutosh Biswas, highlighted that the recognition reflects the institute’s commitment to excellence in digital health initiatives.
“This milestone marks a significant step in India’s journey toward integrated, patient-focused healthcare,” he said.
AIIMS Bhubaneswar has achieved remarkable progress in ABDM implementation, including the successful linking of 42 lakh health records and the generation of 19 lakh ABHA tokens.
It has also successfully introduced a Scan & Pay facility to streamline billing, reduce patient queues, and enhance overall hospital efficiency. These measures have improved patient convenience, promoted paperless workflows, and strengthened continuity of care.
Under ABDM, health Record Linking connects a patient’s digital medical records — including OPD visits, lab reports, prescriptions, and discharge summaries — to their ABHA ID with consent.
This enables patients to access and share records securely, facilitates interoperability across healthcare institutions, and ensures uninterrupted care nationwide.
The prestigious award was presented at the recent Chintan Shivir in Bhubaneswar, organized by the National Health Authority (NHA) under the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare.
Prof. (Dr.) Ashutosh Biswas, along with IT Committee Chairman Dr. Manoj Kumar Mohanty, received the honour from Odisha Chief Secretary Anu Garg.
The two-day Chintan Shivir gathered senior policymakers and health administrators from across India to review progress and chart the future roadmap of digital health initiatives under ABDM.
Representatives from 27 States and 7 union Territories participated, along with distinguished dignitaries including Dr. Sunil Kumar Barnwal (CEO, NHA), Gayatri Rathore (Principal Secretary Health, Rajasthan), and Aswathy S. (Secretary, Health & Family Welfare, Odisha), reports UNI.
This recognition places AIIMS Bhubaneswar at the forefront of India’s digital health transformation, demonstrating a successful model for nationwide healthcare innovation.
