AIIMS Darbhanga gets centre's approval for additional Rs 700 crore

Patna: AIIMS Darbhanga has received the central government's approval for additional Rs 700 crore.
The additional fund comes over and above the earlier sanctioned Rs 1,264 crore for the project.
According to UNI report, welcoming the Centre's decision to approve an additional Rs 700 crore for the AIIMS project in Darbhanga, Bihar BJP president Sanjay Saraogi on Friday termed it a major boost to the long-awaited healthcare institution.
Expressing gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Saraogi said here that the approval was granted during the union Cabinet meeting held on March 25 under the Prime Minister's chairmanship.
The additional fund comes over and above the earlier sanctioned Rs 1,264 crore for the project.

He also thanked union Health Minister JP Nadda for the decision, describing it as "historic and in the public interest."
According to him, the enhanced funding will provide fresh momentum and strength to the crucial healthcare project.
Saraogi said that during Question Hour in Parliament, the Health Minister reaffirmed the government's commitment to completing the Darbhanga AIIMS on priority.
He said that longstanding hurdles in the project's execution are now expected to be resolved.
Highlighting its regional importance, the BJP leader said the institute would prove to be a milestone for Bihar, particularly the Mithila region.
With the additional financial support, construction work is likely to accelerate, enabling early completion of the prestigious institution.
He further emphasised that once operational, the AIIMS in Darbhanga will provide advanced and accessible healthcare services to millions of people not only in Bihar but also in neighbouring states.
The institute is expected to emerge as a major hub for modern medical treatment, research, and training, significantly strengthening the regional healthcare system.
Saraogi added that under the leadership of Prime Minister Modi, the Centre is consistently taking concrete steps to enhance healthcare infrastructure in Bihar, and the additional funding for Darbhanga AIIMS reflects the government's commitment to inclusive development.
The decision, he said, will not only set a new direction for development but also lay a strong foundation for Bihar's brighter future.
