AIIMS Rishikesh Cash-for-Job Scam: Employee Booked for Duping Man of ₹5.59 Lakh

Medical student booked
Rishikesh: Uttarakhand Police have registered an FIR against an employee of All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), Rishikesh, for allegedly duping a man of more than ₹5 lakh by falsely promising him a job at the premier institute.
The case has been registered against Siddhant Sharma, a Junior Administrative Assistant at AIIMS Rishikesh, following directions from Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami, officials said.
According to Senior Sub-Inspector Bhagat Singh Rawat of Rishikesh Kotwali police station, the FIR was lodged this week based on a complaint filed by Sagar Chaudhary, a resident of Rishikesh.
As per the complaint, Chaudhary had visited AIIMS Rishikesh to enquire about an intramural research project, where he allegedly met the accused. During the interaction, Sharma reportedly assured him of a job at AIIMS and took ₹5.59 lakh from him in return.
The police officer stated that although Sharma later returned ₹2 lakh, he failed to provide the promised employment, despite repeated follow-ups by the complainant.
After receiving no relief despite approaching AIIMS authorities and the police, Chaudhary escalated the matter to the Chief Minister, following which instructions were issued to register a criminal case and initiate an investigation.
Confirming the development, Sandeep Kumar, Public Relations Officer, AIIMS Rishikesh, said that the accused employee had faced similar allegations of fraud in the past.
“The investigation into all allegations against Siddhant Sharma has been completed, and the report has been submitted to the competent authority. A presiding officer has also been appointed in the case,” Kumar said.
He further added that disciplinary action is in the final stages, and Sharma’s services may be terminated following due process.
Police said further investigation is underway to ascertain whether more individuals were duped using similar methods.
