AP Doctors' Association, NHA asks to simplify procedure for setting up private hospitals
Kakinada: The Andhra Pradesh Private Hospitals and Nursing Homes Association has urged the state government to introduce single window permissions for the starting of private hospitals and nursing homes dispensing with the present system of multiple permissions.
This move, the association believes, would streamline the cumbersome process of acquiring multiple permissions currently in place.
According to the UNI report, Dr Kalyana Chakravarthy Trust Hospitals MD, who was elected as the state president of the association, told media persons at the tenth state conference held here on Sunday, along with AV Subbareddy, that for the next year, one MLC should be elected from the medical profession so that the problems confronting the doctors could be effectively voiced for their redressal.
One of the key demands put forth by the association is the elimination of the five-year tax and permissions required for the disposal of bio-waste from hospitals daily. They argue that such requirements not only pose administrative burdens but also hinder the efficient functioning of healthcare facilities.
Furthermore, the association raised objections to the practice of collecting trade license fees from hospitals, asserting that hospitals should be treated as service institutions exempt from such fees. They criticized the continued collection of fees despite obtaining stay orders from the court, deeming it improper and illegal.
The conference saw participation from prominent figures in the medical community, including Indian Medical Association state president J. C. Naidu, past president Dr. P. V. Madhusudana Rao, and general secretary Dr. P. Srinivas. Additionally, several doctors, including Ch. Padmavati, Atthaluri Satyavati, Chitla Kiran, Adinarayana, VS Prasad, Balakrishna, and Suryanarayana, were present to lend their support to the association's initiatives.
Earlier, the conference was inaugurated by Dr. Babji, vice chancellor of YSR Medical University.
